In general, I tell my patients to wait two weeks before they resume any heavy liftings (more than 10lbs), exercising or bending over after facial surgery. I reevaluate my patients the day after, then a week after and at the week check up- I am better able to suggest the post surgery activity recommendations based on how they are healing and looking. Your surgeon will have her own suggestions so its best to follow those.
As you go through the consultation process with potential surgeons, you may likely hear different answers regarding when to resume exercise, housework, etc. Always follow the instructions of whoever you choose to do your procedure. For my patients, strenuous activity (exercise, housework, physical work, etc) can usually be resumed 2 weeks from the time of the surgery.
Thank you for your question. Please do consult with your surgeon as they will have a differ protocol to other surgeons. I perform my facelift under local anaesthetic, therefore minimal recovery, therefore I would suggest 2 weeks. All The Best
This is something you need to discuss with your surgeon, for my patients strenuous physical exercise is to be avoided for four to six weeks following surgery. Good luck
I tell my patients to expect about 10 days for physical recovery including heavy house work, and about 9 days for social or public eye recovery (going back to work). Your dressings are removed the next day after surgery. The sutures are removed at 7 days. You are able to move about the house during your recovery. This includes eating, bathroom, watching TV or reading a book. We ask that you do nothing during the first 3 days. As a general rule, the more procedures one has done at the same time, the greater the chance that an increase in bruising and swelling will occur, and thus a little longer healing time. For a lower facelift and fat grafting, 10 days is generally enough time to heal and be back out in public, but full activity like exercising requires 4 weeks of wait.
HI Linda,I usually recommend 4-6 weeks before resuming athletic activities. Also, if you move your neck a lot, you can ruin the suturing that your PS has done to tighten the neck. The real risk in the first 3 weeks is a bleed which can result in an emergency operation and/or formation of scar tissue in the operative site.Be careful!Best,Dr. Christine Rodgers
I usually recommend two weeks on average. In the short term I worry about bleeding. Further out I'm concerned about pulling or popping suture lines open. You want the best long term result so be careful.
Dear linda nugent,Thank you for your question. The answer to your question would be best addressed by your personal surgeon, as it may vary by surgeon. In my practice, I typically clear patients to resume heavier lifting and strenuous activity starting 2 weeks after surgery if they have been healing as expected. It is also important that the patient starts walking as soon as the night after surgery to help prevent blood clots.
Thank you for your question. I would consult with your surgeon for his/her post-operative instructions. However, typically I will ask my patients not to resume strenuous physical activity for 4 weeks after surgery. This will allow all tissues to heal so that you can safely resume exercise. Even after this time period, start slowly back to your regular routine. I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin
Thank you for your question. I recommend at least 3 weeks before you resume strenuous physical activity after a facelift. Activity too soon can cause increased swelling or a bleed. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. At this point, I would discuss with your surgeon what he/she usually uses to help with incision healing. There are several options, and no one way is necessarily better than the other. At this point, time will help the most with healing as your swelling res...
Dear cleardot, The implants are very helpful in improving the underlying bony skeleton amd improves the jawline and jawline. It will not address the deep nasolabial folds or neck bending however these can be addressed separately or at the time of surgery.
Hello! I have frequently performed both of these procedures at the same time and it would be safe in my opinion, especially with your excellent health status. When combined procedures are done the net operative time is LESS than the sum of doing the surgeries separately. Unless your...
