Wait time between face lift and breast augmentation

Hello! I have frequently performed both of these procedures at the same time and it would be safe in my opinion, especially with your excellent health status.  When combined procedures are done the net operative time is LESS than the sum of doing the surgeries separately.  Unless your facial surgery is being performed by someone with limited training, who is not skilled in the full spectrum of plastic surgery, I would look into a combined operation.  
As I have already stated that it could be done at the same time, then I would think no wait time would be required.  In terms of the order, I would do the breast augmentation first that way if the anesthesiologist needs to put a mask on you for that part of the surgery, it will not touch a freshly operated area (your face) as would happen if you did your face first.  If you insist on two surgeons, see if they can work together at the same operation.

While these 2 procedures can often be done together, in your case, I would suggest doing the breast first and the face 2-4 weeks later especially if you use general anesthesia. Christian Drehsen, MD

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your upcoming procedures. I would recommend waiting three months between procedures. This is to allow full healing before undergoing your second procedure. Talk to your surgeons about their specific recommendations.

Regardless of the type of operation, unless it’s an emergency procedure, it is always wise to leave a little time between surgeries, unless they can be performed at the same time. I would speak to both your surgeons about this to see what they advise as they will both have access to your medical records, but I would anticipate the period between surgeries to 12 – 16 weeks, but remember that general anaesthetic can affect people differently and it’s not ideal to have too many anaesthetics in a short period of time. I would suggest having the breast surgery done first. You should allow yourself a minimum of 4-6 weeks between procedures. Hope that info helps!

My first question would be why are you seeing two surgeons - it may be because someone who was trained in ENT doesn’t feel comfortable performing your breast surgery or perhaps you are seeing different surgeons who specialize in different procedures. If you felt comfortable with one surgeon performing both, I would actually suggest you go that route and have both procedures at the same time. Depending on the “add-on” type procedures you may be having with your facelift (brows, lids, fat grafting, implants, etc.) you may want to have surgery at a surgery center where you can stay overnight for monitoring. If you still choose to go with separate surgeries, I would recommend having the breast surgery first and if you heal well with no complications, plan to have facial surgery anytime after 4-6 weeks later. Being in excellent health you can consider performing the 2 procedures concurrently - if the surgeons you have chosen are comfortable with that. Otherwise it depends on which you have first and when that physician will feel "comfortable" with you having another procedure. Most would be comfortable with an interval of 2-4 months, some may want 6. Best of luck.

Generally speaking, by 4-6 weeks, most post operative processes are well along, pain issues are a thing of the past and patients feel pretty much like they did before surgery.  Dscomfort may be a bit longer following an augmentation procedure but barring any complication, which ever is done first should be stable enough for you to undergo a second procedure --As to which is best to do first? I would suggest you do the procedure that's most important to you.... Look at it this way -if you could only do one of the two, which would it be...
