I would like to know if I could get a tummy tuck (or a mommy makeover) with a BMI of 28? I carry most of my weight around my tummy following 2 c sections, 5 and 6 years ago. I lost 3 stone in weight, and I’ve now plataued for the last six months, despite going to the gym and eating healthily. (I’ll never be skinny, and I’m ok with that!) Judging from my photos attached, am I a candidate for tummy tuck/ mommy makeover?
Answer: Can I get Tummy Tuck with BMI of 28? Most of my weight is in my tummy and I've lost weight, but have plateaued. (photo) If you are in good health, your BMI of 28 would allow you to return your body to its pre-pregnancy shape and contours through a short-scar TT. A short-scar TT (The shorter scar it leaves is the same length as that of the mini TT) is ideal for patients in general good health and somewhere close to their ideal body weight. A healthy lifestyle is a must, both before and after the procedure. To make sure that the results of the procedure last, many doctors ask that patients maintain a steady body weight for six months prior to the procedure and maintain their weight after the procedure. A short scar TT would remove loose skin, tighten the muscles, and remove the stretchmarks below the navel with a scar so that bikinis can be worn afterward

Answer: BMI and surgery Congratulations on losing so much weight! Although many surgeons rely on BMI as a way to determine whether a patient is a candidate for surgery, I generally do not because it doesn’t take into account the patient’s general body structure, amount of lean muscle mass, and other factors. However, it’s important that you’re still at a relatively healthy weight so your risk of complications is kept at a minimum. A tummy tuck can only remove fat located right below the skin (subcutaneous). This is also known as “pinchable” fat. Looking at your photos, it’s hard to say how much subcutaneous fat you have vs visceral fat. Visceral fat can only be decreased safely with a healthy lifestyle and diet. It would be a good idea to consult, in person, with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether a tummy tuck is suitable and safe for you.

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, skin laxity, and history of 2 c-sections, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck with liposuction. A BMI of 28 is fine for this surgery. This can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural and have no scars on the exterior. Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G.
