3 days post op, I'm very itchy all over my body. Is this normal?

Today is my third day after the surgery ... I feel pretty good ... the first night was horrible ... but what I feel is very itchy all over my body ... it will be normal?

Thank you for your question.  You could be allergic to your pain medications or your antibiotics.  I would suggest you contact your operative surgeon and discontinue the medications.  You can take Benadryl for the itching.Best of luck

It is most likely a side effect of a medication you have been prescribed or the cleaning prep utilized during your surgery.  Very often itchiness can be seen with some pain medications and resolves once it is stopped.  I would discuss your symptoms with your surgeon.  They may prescribe Benadryl and stop your medications.

Having an all over itch 3 days post op is not normal. There could be a plethora of reasons, but most common at this stage is likely to be a reaction to your medication. Please contact your PS to discuss this.

Hi Lei.LiaYou should not be itchy all over at all.  This usually indicates an allergy to a medication you are taking.  You should notify your doctor right away.  In the mean time, try to correlate timing of medications to onset of itchiness.sek

I would look at your medications.  One of the common side effects of narcotics is itching.  It doesn't mean you are allergic to the medication just that you are suffering a side effect.  There are several over the counter anti-itch medications.
