Are there any cosmetic treatments (i.e. injection of some sort) to improve the appearance of a bony chest? Sample pictures of what I am referring to attached. I realized I had this issue soon after having breast augmentation, so I assume it has something to do with my chest skin being stretched out and thinning. I've also noticed that putting on weight has not helped to soften the appearance of my chest bones. Any cosmetic solutions available?
Answer: Treatment of bony chest Thanks for your question. One potential option to soften the appearance of the upper part of the implants and provide more coverage of the ribs is fat grafting / lipofilling.

Answer: Bony chest I have seen many bony chests disappear within a few months of eating properly and gaining a few pounds. If your height and weight are giving you a low BMI, it would be best to see your regular physician , dietician, or metabolic specialist to help determine why you are as thin as you are that your bones are showing. Sometimes hyperthyroidism or something strange in your diet can cause this as well. Gain some weight, feel better and good luck....

Answer: Fat grafting is the answer You're naturally thin so after your breast implants, the discrepancy between the large full breasts and the chest became more apparent. Fat taken from any area in your body - probably your love handles or inner thighs can be put over this area to improve the appearance of your breast implants and your chest. It is called composite breast augmentation and it was first described several years ago. I have attached the web link for you. Best regards,DANIEL Del vecchio MD

Answer: Cosmetic Treatments For A Bony Chest? Thanks for your question. This is sometimes a concern with patients that can seem more prominent after breast augmentation.I would say that one reasonable option may be autologous fat transfer to that area. In breast reconstruction, fat transfer is used to smooth the transition from the implant to the chest wall, often in the upper-inner pole of the breast. Because of the success of this procedure in reconstruction, it is now being used in the cosmetic arena as well. Fat transfer is not always an exact science and rates of fat graft survival vary based on many factors. Because of this, achieving the look you want may require more than one procedure. I would advise you to get a consultation with a local plastic surgeon who is experienced with fat transfer procedures. They can discuss your options with you to allow you to achieve your goals.Best of luck!

Answer: Cosmetic treatments for a bony chest? Thank you for your questions. Based on the pictures you supplied, this is resulting from the relationship between a person's underlying ribs and overlying soft tissues. If the ribs are prominent, or if the overlying soft tissues are thin, then this appearance is more likely to occur. As there is not much that can be done to the ribs of the chest cosmetically, treatment would need to be focused on the soft tissues. Though some patients can probably improve this appearance by gaining weight, an alternative such as fat grafting is possible, though it would require a fair amount of grafting to correct. This may not be possible in someone who is already quite thin.
