Does PRP or laser treatment work?

Propecia (Finasteride), Rogaine® (Minoxidil), PRP, and laser therapy have all been shown to have efficacy with male pattern baldness, and are the mainstays of noninvasive treatment for male pattern hair loss. Regarding Propecia, however, its use is a personal decision that should be made with the help of a qualified hair loss specialist after all of the ramifications of its use have been discussed. After proper consultation, you are also of age to be considered for either a FUE or FUT hair transplant procedure.

velanrocks,There are many treatments that help mitigate the progressive thinning and recession of Androgenetic Alopecia. Propecia and Rogaine 5% combination therapy has some synergistic benefit. PRP can provide improvements to reduce additional hair loss, improve the quality of your current hair, and increase the amount of new hair growth.  It likely will necessitate multiple sessions and results are generally seen by 3 months. Of course not everyone is a good candidate for this treatment so please see a Board Certified or Board Eligible Plastic Surgeon to evaluate if you may benefit. Good luck!

In my opinion, sudies have shown PRP is effective at decreasing hair loss, thickening existing hairs and possibly regrowing hair. Since protocols differ, you need a PRP expert. Combining low level laser with PRP is helpful.PRPHAIRMD.COM

Thank you for your question. The mainstays of hair preservation/restoration without surgery have been Propecia, minoxidil, and low level laser therapy. There are very good studies documenting the effectiveness of these treatments. PRP is a newer therapy in recent years that has been shown to decrease hair loss, promote healthier hair growth, and restore recently lost follicles. It is important to realize that not everyone responds to these interventions and I find it is best to combine treatments for the best possible outcome.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

I have seen PRP work for hair loss for appropriate candidates.  Select a physician experienced in using PRP such as a member of the American Cosmetic Cellular Medicine Association.  

Both laser and PRP have been shown to help with hair loss, as has minoxidil and finasteride (Propecia).  Often a combination of two or more is best.  I suggest an in-person evaluation with a hair restoration physician for an examination and discussion of the above options so you can decide which one(s) are best for you.
