I am getting a breast augmentation in April. I usually play tennis on a summer league and want to know if this is possible. I am 23yr old, very active.
Answer: How long after a Breast Augmentation can I get back to playing tennis / lifting weights? Thanks for this great question. Recovery varies from person to person, but I would say it is safe to perform gentle exercise by 3 weeks after breast augmentation fro most patients. Tennis may be a few months away after a full recovery from breast implants. As far as weights, my patients start light weights at 4 to 6 weeks. I am strong believer that for best cleavage, pushups and bench pressing should be avoided for one year after the operation. Good luck with your upcoming breast implants. Dr. ALDO :)

CONTACT NOW Answer: Breast Augmentation Recovery While it is understandable that you do not want to interrupt your exercise routine, it is important to allow your body some time to heal after surgery and minimize any potential complications. For the first week, you should take it easy and rest. Avoid excessive arm movements and using your chest muscles. Light walks after the first few days should be fine. During the second week and third, you may increase walking and gradually begin lower body exercises only as tolerated, still avoiding any major heavy lifting and chest exercises. You can also start incorporating light cardio. You should listen to your body and not do any activities that are painful. After the fourth week, you should be able to resume most normal activities as long as you do not experience pain. Every patient is different and recovery can be different for everyone, so consult with your plastic surgeon for specific recommendations based on your individual situation to ensure a safe recovery. Answer: Physical activity after surgery Restrictions on physical activity are outlined in your post-op instructions provided to you by your surgeon. Generally speaking, I advise my patients to wait at least 6-8 weeks before resuming strength training and other physically rigorous activities (including tennis).

Answer: How long after a Breast Augmentation can I get back to playing tennis / lifting weights? Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to specific instructions in regards to returning to activities. Generally speaking, best to limit strenuous activity for at least 2 weeks after breast augmentation surgery, assuming you are doing well and there have been no complications. Care should be taken during the first two weeks after surgery not to allow for elevation of heart rate, blood pressure, and/or direct trauma/contact to the chest wall. Generally speaking, most my patients are able to return to lower body exercise at the 2 week post operative mark, wait to lift/run for about 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. Other exercises, involving the pectoralis major muscles, may resume several months down the line, if not longer. In my practice, I would ask that you avoid activity such as tennis or golf for at least two months after surgery. In other words, start slow and "listen to your body" as you gradually progress in intensity/duration of all activities. Best wishes.

Answer: Exercise It depends on where the implants are placed and whether they are round or anatomical, I would run this by your PS. Somewhere between 4-6 weeks is the usual recommendation but the advise for each patient does vary.

Answer: When can I play tennis Hello dear, thanks for your post, I recommend to all my patients that they can start working out after 3 months, but will depend on how is their progress going. Also you know that each surgeon has their own policy, so I recommend you to have closed communication with your dr. and follow all his post op instructions. Good luck and a wish you a speedy recovery
