I have a crooked nose and asymmetrical nostrils. I'm very self conscious about it. Can this be fixed easily? One nostril in round and my septum can be seen and the other is long and oval shaped.
Answer: I have a crooked nose and asymmetrical nostrils. The areas that concern you can be realistically improved. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do and how to do it based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best surgery. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon certified by the American Board of American Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Crooked Nose and Nostril Asymmetry Thank you for your question. Kudos on including your photos. It appears that part of your issue is the septum is crooked into the left nostril. This deformity, either congenital or traumatic, can be fixed by a simple septoplasty. Most of the time, this procedure will also help with nostril asymmetry. Please see a surgeon that is both adept in both rhinoplasty and septoplasty surgery. Good luck.

Answer: Nose Asymmetry It appears that your nose and nostril asymmetry is caused by a deviated septum as well as changes to the outer cartilage support. While it can be improved/fixed, I would not use the term 'easy'. Easy from your perspective probably means a small operation. But most deviated noses require work on the entire nose from the bones down through the entire cartilage framework, a full open septorhinoplasty. While effective this is not an easy operation for the surgeon or the patient.

Answer: Rhinoplasty for the crooked nose Rhinoplasty for the crooked nose is a very difficult endeavor, and one of the most difficult procedures to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery. To straighten a crooked nose requires osteotomies placed in the nasal bones, cartilage grafts placed underneath the upper lateral cartilage on the concave side. This is known as a spreader graft. When the tip is crooked, a tip rhinoplasty is required. For more information and many examples of crooked nose repair in our practice, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Nostril asymmetry Your asymmetry of your nostrils is not out of the normal range and probably would not recommend surgery to improve this.
