5 weeks post op BBL and butt is drooping severely. What do I do? (Photo)

Question

I recently had the BBL procedure, the swelling seems to have gone down, and now I feel like my butt is sagging. Not sure much of the fat that was transfered stayed, amd the fat that did is now all settled at the bottom on my cheeks. I have not gone back for another check up yet, and I am afraid he will say there is nothing he can do. How should I go about fixing this?

Hi Wmonroeo,Thanks for your question. Most swelling usually subsides at 3 months which is when you can expect to see your almost final results. Usually what happens with a BBL is that if the fat is removed from the top of the butt then you will have extra skin. To correct for the extra skin you need to fill the upper part of the fat to help shape it and take up the loose skin. It also looks like you need to have the lower part of your outer butt liposuctioned or the upper portion filled with fat to get better shape. I am not sure how your fat was processed but if it was not processed in a recommended way then you will likely lose the water, dead fat and oil that was transferred as opposed to concentrated healthy fat which is was is normally transferred. Yes it CAN  be fixed. Be patient with your physician. Most physicians want their patients to be happy and should correct issues if you have them. Good luck!Sincerely,Carlos

Thank you very much for your question, and for providing the pictures.You are still very early in the healing process following a BBL.  I would continue to follow closely with your surgeon (and go back for check-ups).  At 3 months you will have a good sense of your final buttock shape, 5 weeks is too early to make any determinations.  If at 3 months you are unhappy with the shape, there likely are maneuvers that can be done to make the appearance more how you'd like.  Best of luck!

As previously stated five weeks is much too soon to determine the final outcome of the BUBL.At three months you'll have a reasonable idea of your final results and six months is a good time frame to do a final before and after comparison.You will most likely lose some additional volume where the fat grafting was done and the areas treated with liposuction will continue to go down more with time.It's not unusual for some patients to acquire some revision work after liposuction including BBLs.at this point follow up with your plastic surgeon and share your concerns with him or her.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
