The corrugators create creases on either side of the midline but not in the midline. This most likely represents the frontalis muscle which could be resected to eliminate the crease.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Corrugator resection during brow lift significantly weakens, but does not completely eliminate the corrugator muscle. Similarly, it will make the crease between the brows better, but not completely make it go away. Even after corrugator resection, you may still need some neuromodulators to completely paralyze that area.
You're going to need corrugator resection, frontalis resection, and a fascia graft placed underneath the area where the large vertical wrinkle is, since there's dermal atrophy here. This needs to be performed through coronal approach brow lift procedure.
Dear Brave,If you've had that wrinkle since your 20's and you've adequately tried chemodenervation (Botox), then corrugator resection is probably not going to do much either. The operative word here is "adequately." A long standing, deep crease like yours would take many Botox treatments performed regularly over a long period of time, e.g. a year or more, to see a difference. The question then becomes did you, or your practitioner, see a decrease in corrugator muscle activity after Botox and you just didn't continue it on a regular basis for a long enough period of time?
