32 y.o. 5’5 250 lbs. Looking for abdominal liposuction. I’m training for a law enforcement physical fitness exam. I have the core strength to do sit ups and crunches, however the fat is in the way and prevents me from touching my elbows to my knees (this is required for completing the exercise). I expect loose skin but don't want a tummy tuck at this time. Will lipo remove enough fat? Is it likely that I will recover and be able to exercise my core before June 11th when I'm scheduled to test?
Answer: Safety as primary goal You are a very young person and you have a very dangerous BMI above 41. So you are not candidate for plastic surgery which may be considered safe. The volume on your abdomen is the combination of several features: subcutaneous fat, severe saggy skin and visceral fat. And liposuction will only remove the subcutaneous fat but will create a worst degree of saggy skin and an irreparable lumpy appearance of your abdomen, because liposuction won’t make the skin tighter but looser. After you losing 60-70 lbs you will become healthier and then the Plastic Surgery will be a safe option for you. Dr. Cárdenas

Answer: Recommendation: Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question regarding if liposuction of the abdomen removes the fat from the abdominal wall. I would suggest abdominal liposuction. However, in my opinion, the best surgery for you would be a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. In analyzing your pictures, you have excess skin and fat on your abdominal wall. The best surgery would be a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty which would permanently eliminate abdominal skin, abdominal fat, plicate the abdominal wall muscles, and lift and reduce the pubic region. However, in your particular case with your law enforcement physical exercise test coming up, I do not think you will have enough recovery time if you undergo a tummy tuck. If you completely understand that you will have loose skin, it may not look perfectly aesthetic, you can undergo abdominal liposuction. You must realize that the more fat that is removed, the more potential for hanging skin. In conclusion, the best surgery for you will be a tummy tuck. However, considering your circumstances of hardcore physical exercise, you ou should undergo aggressive abdominal liposuction. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Answer: Liposuction Candidate -- Body Contouring, Diet, Exercise, Surgery, VASER HI DEF 4D LIPO/ 360 Degree Liposculpture You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. You will likely need to lose weight first before undergoing any cosmetic procedure to get the best outcome. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting a sculpting liposuction procedure. Liposuction is not a weight loss procedure; rather, it is for sculpting, defining and removing problem areas that cannot be removed with weight loss, diet and exercise alone. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin. In the meantime, I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a bariatric doctor or dietitian. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Liposuction Liposuction can be performed. 10 lbs can safely be removed during one session of liposuction and the sessions can be repeated if necessary. However, the skin will hang and you will eventually need the skin removed. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Considering liposuction Based on the information provided it is best to lose weight prior to considering surgery. It is recommended patients have a BMI of 30 or under when considering elective plastic surgery. Those above that threshold are at higher risk of complications such as infection seroma and wound healing issues. Once you have reached your weight loss goal a tummy tuck would be recommended to remove excess fat and skin and correct any abdominal wall separation.
