Question

My surgeon who is extremely intelligent with what he does as well as sought out in my area put 455ccs in each breast. I went to him because I lack tissue in my upper pole and he suggested implants to lift. I have 455 UHP in each breast and so far just look large. I originally was a 34 D to DD. I'm worried I made a mistake. Especially since the drop and fluff has not occurred and many say they look larger after that

Thanks for your question...That depends on what you wanted your final result to be. From your photos, you appear to have a good result. Give it some time for everything to settle, it can take up to 3 months. Dear katerbuggg, It is far too early to tell how your breasts will look right now. It may take weeks to months for the final outcome. That being said, you had a large amount of your own tissue to start with and have a decent sized implant. You are going to be pretty big when it is all said and done. Please don't panic. 4 days post-op is extremely short after your surgery and your breasts should be swollen most at this point. I am sure you surgeon put some consideration in the choice of your implant size. The swelling will slowly start to settle in the forthcoming days so that you will get a good idea of what the final size will be after 6 weeks. Even at this point all swelling is not gone yet. You also might be a type who swells more than other patients therefore it is wrong to make a judgement now.
Try to relax and to trust your surgeon. I always advise that the bit a patient might think the breast is too big or the shape not natural is very likely caused by the swelling.
I am sure you will like them in a few weeks' time.

Just 4 days out from surgery, it is nearly impossible to judge the final results. The implants will drop and will look more natural. The breasts will appear smaller and lower on the chest wall. Seeing how you started with a large cup size and have relatively large implants, your breasts won't be small, but I suspect you will like them considerably more! Hope this helps - Sam Jejurikar, MD

Thanks for your question.  Sorry to hear about your disappointment regarding your breasts.   You are still very early in the postoperative period and your breasts have not yet settled.  Your breasts will reach their final size/shape about 6 months after your original surgery.  At that time, if you are still unhappy with the size of the implants, you should be able to change the size but that will require an additional operation.

katerbuggg. I appreciate your concerns but way too early to worry. Your body needs time to heal and adapt to the implants. The skin and muscle over the implants must stretch a bit to allow the implants to settle into their final position.  Breast don’t necessarily look larger after implants settle and fluff.  While your appearance will improve fairly quickly, don't expect to see your final result for at least 6 months after surgery.  Try to stay patient and follow up with your plastic surgeon. Since you are only four days out from surgery, yet and be patient.  You have a long way to go in the recovery process.  Most patients need at least a month to really see what their final size and shape will be.  That being said, as a D already, adding 455cc was always going to make you much larger than you were already.  A 455cc UHP is a good sized implant, and is most likely going to add two cup sizes.  At this point just be patient, follow your surgeons instructions, and address it with he/she at the one month check up.  You may be surprised once everything relaxes and settles that you like how they are.

Dear katerbuggg,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast augmentation surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues around the implants are still swollen.
