Congratulations on your recent surgery. Typically we recommend a patient resume light aerobic activity at three weeks and full activity at 6 weeks. Running a marathon is very strenuous and should be eased into over time. Discuss this activity with your surgeon to make sure you have fully recovered and are ready to take on a marathon. Good luck.
Thanks for your question...Every surgeon has different post op protocol so please follow what your surgeon has said. I tell may patient's they can resume normal activity (including running) after 6 weeks post op, they just should wear a good support bra with the new added weights to their breasts. Hi Dragon676,It is important to let the body heal properly and fully after a major surgery like a breast augmentation. Usually patients can resume full intensity activities in their lower and upper body after six weeks. Most importantly, listen to your body and be patient with yourself as each person's recovery process is different.I would recommend speaking to your plastic surgery if you have further concerns or questions regarding your recovery process post BA.Good luck to you.Best,Christopher Chang, MDWashington DC, Virginia, Maryland
I typically tell my patients they may return to light cardio at 3 weeks and resume all activities (weights, yoga, strenuous exercise) at 6 weeks post op. For a half marathon I would instruct my patients to wait the full 6 weeks after surgery. Please discuss this further with your surgeon as each surgeon may have specific instructions and restrictions they would like you to abide by. Best of luck!
Hello and Great Question. I appreciate the time you are spending researching this procedure. My name is Dr. Matthew J. Nykiel. I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, a Fellowship Trained Cosmetic Surgeon, and a Cosmetic Breast Augmentation Specialist.I typically recommend to my patients that they are released to all actives after 6 weeks as long as there has not been any complications. Of course you do have to listen to your body and be sure to wear a good supportive sports bra while you run.I hope that helps! Best of Luck!Matthew J. Hello, I'd recommend checking first with your surgeon because every patient heals differently and their advice will be based on your recovery. Typically I suggest my patients wait 6 weeks before returning to vigorous exercise but this is just a guideline.
Please talk to your plastic surgeon about activity after surgery. We all have varying opinions on post-operative restrictions. I ask my patients to wait six weeks prior to resuming all pre-surgery activities. Best of luck!Sincerely, Dr. Michelle Spring
Thank you for your question. Every surgeon will have his/her own preferences as to recovery for specific procedures. The best person to advice you will be your specific surgeon. I suggest you wait at least 3 weeks before running or exercise. It's best to be sure that everything is healed. There is always a chance of causing bleeding if you start much before that time. When you start, listen to your body. You will be a little out of condition and a bit sore. But you will get back to where you were before surgery very quickly.
Thank you for your question. Although post operative instructions do vary from one plastic surgeon to another, my advice is to not lift anything greater than 15 pounds for a full 4 weeks. Walking is permitted and encouraged. After 4 weeks, I advise my patients to resume normal exercise routines as tolerated. Best of luck.
Dragon676. I ask my breast augmentation patients to refrain from any form of cardio workouts, heavy lifting or anything that raises the heart rate or blood pressure for one full month after surgery. The concern is bleeding after the operation and this decreases those chances. Every surgeon has a different protocol however, and I would check in with your board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
This to me looks like it could be infected as you say... I would definitely have your Doctor inspect it.
Thank you for your question. A Brava bra is a device similar to a breast pump that works to temporarily increase your breast size using vacuum suction. It only increases breasts by maybe a cup size, and is not a permanent solution. If you are looking for a long-term fix, my best advice...
Hello,Thank you for sharing the information, it is a pleasure for me to answer your question. each doctor has its protocols, for recovery, it is important to maintain rest for 6 weeks, it is not recommended to swim, until waiting for the authorization of your doctor, to avoid risks, post surgery...
