I recently got juviderm xc lip injections. I was told by the doctor it lasts about a year...then the other lady in the room said it was "9 months to a year," and now on here and other places online I have seen surgeons saying it lasts 4-8 months, 9 months, a year..which one is it? I understand it varies from person to person but 4 months and a year are not even close.

While everyone's metabolism will ultimately determine how long a filler lasts, in general--Juvederm Ultra XC or Ultra Plus XC usually lasts 6-9 months. Perhaps a year if you're lucky, and 4 months is possible if your metabolize the filler quickly or you have more motion in your lips than others. Allergan has a new lip filler using their Vycross technology--Volbella-- that is great for subtle lip enhancement and smoothing fine perioral lines, and this lasts about 18 months. Bear in mind, this data is from their studies. In any study, there is a range of duration results, but their results showed a mean of 18 months duration. You could last shorter, or longer, but I think a year is reasonably certain. If you're interested in getting lip fillers, I recommend you seek a board certified cosmetic doctor with experience injecting the lips. Take care.

Answer: Longevity The product can last up to a year, but the effect of the product may not be seen that long as the product will wear off gradually. Many patients report that they can enjoy the visible results of the product for about 6-9 months before they need to consider additional treatment.

Answer: Lips lips and more lios So fillers and longevity is an area of dispute for many patients and surgeons. In my experience, when placed around mobile areas such as the lips and eyes which you use every minute, they go away a bit quicker. I tell patients for the lips it is about 6-9 months. Another variable is your metabolism though. This is a sugar that the body already makes and uses so if you are extra active it can affect the longevity. Hope this helps. Best of luck,DrC
