Hi there, thank you for your question. Actually, you can go back to work after 5 days but if you do not feel well enough, you can rest for 1 week. I think that it will be enough.
Hi thanks for your question. We typically recommend that you take a minimum of one week off of work after liposuction. That said, each surgeon will have his or her own post-operative guidelines that you should follow carefully, so it would be best to speak to your surgeon about these or any other concerns that you might have.
depending on the type of liposuction. for my vaser HD lipo athletic shaping on the arms you need 7-10 days before going back to work. traditional fat removal and heating could go back after a weekend.I= Lipo 360 arm +/- Brachioplasty - VASER HD, J Plasma/Renuvion/Inmode BodyTite tightening, athletic arm body contouringthe smaller you are before liposuction the more contouring you can get from the procedure. most of my liposuction patients get pre and post surgical optimization with hormonal therapy (see link to help boost their weight loss before surgery and help them heal after). You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring. Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty). Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. Without photos, specific advice cannot be provided. You may be a good candidate for BodyTite with liposuction of the arms. BodyTite does not remove any fat, but it is capable of producing a 45% contraction in tissues. Results can be seen immediately after one treatment and are more evident over three to six months post-treatment. Wait until six months to fully evaluate the aesthetic results. Sedentary activities can be resumed in two to three days and full activity with exercise within two to three weeks.
Dear Mslalamanda, most plastic surgeons would recommend you to wait until you are fully healed. But every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
The worst day for swelling is the second day after surgery. I recommend you to wear a compression garment for a month following surgery, but on the third day you should be able to return to our job of typing. When not working, try to elevate your arms as often as possible when lying down, i.e. put them on a pillow on your abdomen. Thank you for your question, and good luck.
Dear MslalamandaLiposuction is not extremely painful and the pain usually appears with movement and pressure. If you can type with minimal movement and pressure over your elbows and have a good pain threshold you may even work the day after the surgery. Otherwise down time is always less than one week.Regards
Everyone is different, but based on your job and since the surgery is on your arms, I would plant at least 1 week. When you go back, see if you can arrange for frequent breaks or shorter days if possible. You will be fatigued from the surgery, and may have some discomfort when typing. If you are on any pain medications you should not drive.
Depends on your job and pain tolerance, but 3-5 days would be typical for this type of procedure.Good Luck!
The decision of when to go back to work is one that you and your doctor need to make. You may be able to do a full day of typing five days after the procedure. That’s typically the number of days off I recommend for most liposuction procedures.Other providers may be far more conservative and recommend more time.Much depends on how aggressive the treatment is.Patients also vary substantially and how they feel about going back to work. some people say three days is enough others feel three weeks wasn’t enough.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
