4 weeks post op, can I shower normally?

At 1 month if your incisions are all closed and healing with out any problem, it should not be an issue facing the water in the shower.  

By now it should be safe to shower normally. However, I recommend waiting another month or two before completely submerging your incisions in the bathtub, pool, or beach. Regular showering should be quite safe, as long as you’re not scrubbing too hard. Keep an eye on your incisions. 

Thank you for the question. Most surgeons have their patients shower 1-2 days after breast surgery, unless there is an issue.

I usually recommend patients keep the wounds dry for a week and can then shower / bath as normal. Every PS has different regimes and best to check with your PS.

At four weeks out, provided no wound healing problems (open areas, infection, dead skin), you should be able to shower normally.  Best to get the official OK from your Plastic Surgeon though.

We know that healing of epithelium, the outer layer of skin, can occur quite quickly sealing incisions within days of surgery.  We usually restrict bathing as healing at that point is quite tenuous.   But, if you are now four weeks out, and both you and your physician think that your incisions are healing well and maturing, then it should be fine for you to shower.  Nothing substitutes for instructions from your own surgeon, but know that most surgeons, in the setting of normal healing, would allow bathing by now.  Wish my patients were as compliant as you!  Hope you recovery continues to progress easily.
