I had bellafill done over the course of a couple of months in Feb-Mar of 2016. I was left with several lumpy deposits all over my face. In Dec of 2016 I had to get a series of immunizations for school. Within days the bellafill started growing. I went on a course of prednisone. While I was on the highest dose, the lumps started to shrink back to what they had been, but as I titrated off the prednisone, they have started growing again. I am wondering what is going on and how to stop it.
Answer: Have you heard of Bellafill growing? Thank you for sharing your question. As Bellafill comes as PMMA in a carrier of cow collagen your body may have mounted an inflammatory response with the immunizations towards one of the two components, or the material was injected in bolus deposits instead of threading. Bellafill requires patch testing prior to injection to see if you have any reaction to the material, but for now continue the steroid treatment. Hope this helps.

Answer: Can Bellafill Grow? Hi and thank you for your question! Bellafill is an excellent filler with long-lasting results. Bellafill is a stimulatory filler and once injected, it stimulates body to produce more collagen around it, which might emerge as lumps. Hence, one can say that Bellafill does "grow" after injection. This being said, you need to determine if the locations of the lumps match the locations where Bellafill was injected as the injected filler is not expected to migrate around. Even though you seem to have had some response to taking steroids, I still think that the nature of the lumps should be positively identified to make sure they are not related to other underlying conditions. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: Bellafill Thank you for your question. It would be helpful to know more information about the location of the injections and the dosage. Keep in mind that the dosage of Bellafill varies, and is based on a treatment plan that you and your provider develop based on your goals. I suggest that you discuss your current concerns with your board certified facial plastic surgeon as this experience may not be related to Bellafill.Best wishes,

Answer: Immune response to Bellafill, fillers. The vaccines charged up your immune system and for some reason, it started to attach the Bellafill. Once the immune system calms down, this should subside. I don't know how long it will take and don't know what dose is appropriate for you. This can happen with other fillers, even HA fillers too. There are many cases of this happening to Vycross fillers such as Vobella and Vollure.

Answer: Bellafill growing? I am sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with Bellafill because it really is a wonderful filler. In any event, patients should never get any lumps after a Bellafill injection. When injected superficially, as in the sites you show in the photos, it must be "threaded" through the tissues so that there are no "blobs" of product anywhere. If large deposits of PMMA are in the tissues, they can cause a foreign body reaction or even a granuloma. This may have happened to you. Basically it is your body's immune system reacting to the material. It is possible that the immunizations stimulated your immune system and this resulted in more of a reaction. It also makes sense that the prednisone suppressed your immune system and the reaction settled down. You could continue to use steroids on an as needed basis or have steroid injected in to the problem areas; but, if you want a permanent solution, you may have to have the product removed. Best to seek out an injector who is experienced in dealing with this type of issue. Best of luck.
