Bellafill is very safe and 5FU is used only if someone has a granuloma, which you don't appear to have. If you have any concerns, I recommend following up with your injector. Best, Dr. Emer
Thank you for your question and for sharing your photo. Your results look great and I don't see any indication of a granuloma or a biofilm complication. #Bellafill is an excellent product when used correctly. As with any injectable filler, your physician should thoroughly cleanse the area with cholorhexadine or similar antiseptic. An alcohol wipe is not enough. While rare, delayed granulomas occur in less than 2% of patients according to most publications. Biofilm complications are even less likely. If you develop one of these complications, please contact #Suneva (company who distributes Bellafill) to refer you to a local expert. Best of luck,Suneel Chilukuri, M.D.Houston, Texas
Bellafill is a very safe filler. It is the only filler that has been studied for 5 years and had a 1.7% granuloma rate. This is comparable to all other fillers. If the filler is placed under sterile conditions, biofilms are not an issue. Sterility has to do with the skin being prepped appropriately with hibiclens and the provider using sterile injection technique. 5FU is used only in cases of nodularity or granuloma. It is not standard to use but in a small minority of cases and would be never included in any injectible filler approved by the FDA.
It appears that you have a great result from your Bellafill injection. It is a great filler and only rarely makes lumps that have to be dealt with. In the past 10 years that I have been using Bellafill, I have only had to inject a few patients. I tell every one that they may get temporary lumps that they can feel but as long as the lumps cannot be seen they do not have to be treated. These lumps are usually the same lumps that we used to see with the original collagen fillers we used in the early 2000's and they always went away on there own. There is no need to inject 5FU and or Kenalog (steroid) unless you have a problem that can be seenI hope that helps and that you like your results. If so, make sure to write a review here on RealSelf to help other patients understand the benefits of this product. Also, if you like this answer, please give it an up vote on the "report button" in the top right. Best regards.
Thank you for question! It is hard to alter nose height with one Bellafill injections. You will most probably have to have more injections to have visible results. Contact your provider to schedule follow up and to discuss your further options. Best of luck!
Bellafill filler can cause nodules and chronic edema, soft tissue reaction, and longterm problems. We specialize in the removal of Bellafill on the face and see patients with old and new PMMA filler problems. Bellafill will eventually form scar tissue around the permanent filler. We recommend a...
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems. If you can see lumps a couple of months after a Bellafill injection, then a series of low dose injections using 5FU and Kenalog works very well. Small amounts are injected into the lumps which are really scars every month for about 3 to 6...
