Effect of bellafill injections disappeared 5 days after injection.

Question

I had bellafill chin augmentation. Immediately after the injection, I loved the result. However as the time went by, I see the result slowly disappearing. It completely disappeared 5 days after the initial injection. Is it because the main component of bellafill, collagen, is absorbed by the body? Do I need more belafill? Thanks!

In addition, you are less than a week out of bellafill, and the procedure's efficacy varies based on the patient and their unique health profile. You most likely had swelling which has since resolved. It can take several weeks to see results with Bellafill. You will need more than one treatment to get the final outcome as bellafill builds collagen over the long term. I often use it combined with sculptra to augment the chin and get great results. Dear patient, what you saw right after the procedure was swelling due to the injection process and the "Bovine Collagen" included in the Bellafill injection. It is unlikely that the Collagen portion is absorbed after only 5 days. It takes about 2-3 months for that part of Bellafill to get absorbed. I would need to see better before and after photos but agree with your assumption that more Bellafill is probably needed. I would still suggest that you wait 2-3 months for your own body' Collagen to build around the plastic beads before proceeding with more injections.

It is normal for the initial appearance after a Bellafill treatment to go away after a short period of time.  The collagen that delivers the Bellafill product gets quickly absorbed and will cause the appearance to go back to normal.  It then takes several weeks for the Bellafill to stimulate the tissues to produce gradual filling over time.  Most people require more than one treatment session to obtain the desired result.  I usually wait about 6-8 weeks between treatments.

Bellafill has become an excellent alternative to implants for chin augmentation. With less significant side effects and ease of use it may very well be the procedure of choice.Suneva the distributor of Bellafill shows results lasting up to five years.  PMMA microspheres compose twenty percent and collagen eighty percent of Bellafill.  The microshperes do not reabsorb or decompose; the amount of collagen produced surrounding the PMMA changes with time and age.
Results vary from patient to patient.  Several injections sessions are typically required to produce the desired end result. Bellafill is only FDA approved for injection in the naso-labial folds and acne. Other applications are considered off label use.
Most patients elect to have a less permanent filler injected for the first time to see what can be done. Afterwards they often choose Bellafill to give longer lasting results.

Bellafill to me is not a filler, but a collagen maker, which it's main role is to firm the skin. 
Having that said it can be used as a filler, however the point is Bellafill contains two different materials, a gel that gives you immediate result and wears off fast and the second part which will kick in later over the course of months.
So at this point, I will give it some more time.

You must give Bellafill time. Initially there is some swelling with Bellafill. Also, there is collagen in the product that is degraded by the body. This usually takes 6-12 weeks to occur. I would wait at least 3 months to see the results. You might need more, but don't do it just yet.

Bellafill works great as a filler for chin augmentation.  If you just had it, be patient.  You should wait about a month before you decide if you got the result that you are looking for.  It may be that you need some more but the swelling and healing process takes a while to completely resolve so at a few days after your injection, it will be hard to know what the final result will be.  Even though the collagen in Bellafill ultimately gets absorbed, this is a slow process that is offset by the addition of your own collagen.I hope that helps.Best regards.
