What can I do to make my side profile look better? (Photo)

From the front, I look normal besides a little chubbiness in the cheeks even though I am not chubby at all. From the side profile I have no self confidence. I have a big nose and my forehead and chin don't line up but I don't know exactly what surgeries or injections I would need. I want a cute button nose but that wouldn't fix my chin.

Your nose could be improved with rhinoplasty, which would give permanent improvements in symmetry and shape. You can bring the pictures that you think would be flattering to your face and these can be discussed.  It takes special interest and study to understand the facial aesthetics to create a nose that is harmonious with your other features. Take the time to find the right facial plastic surgeon and ask them to create digital images of the nose they propose for you and discuss the cost.

From the single profile photo you provided I think there are several things that could be considered to improve your aesthetics.  I do think that a reductive rhinoplasty with straightening of the nasal dorsum would help.  Your chin would benefit from augmentation of vertical height which can be achieved with an implant and you could improve your neckline with a platysmaplasty.  Performing these procedures together will help you balance your facial features.

If you're looking for profile enhancement, you may wish to consult several reputable facial plastic surgeons to see if neck liposuction would be right for you. Well-performed neck liposuction may lead to an improved jawline, and an improved angle between your neck and chin.You could consider rhinoplasty for tip deprojection and dorsal lowering if you loathe your nasal appearance.It's not clear whether you might benefit from a small implant - my hunch is this may not be necessary.You may also consider lip augmentation which could have the effect of making your nose look smaller.Hope this helps you.Dr. Joseph

A rhinoplasty combined with vertical chin lengthening and submental/neck liposuction would go a long way in addressing your facial profile concerns. It is important to realize that your nasal anatomy is not going to permit a small 'button nose' result so other facial changes would be necessary to help visibly 'reduce' the size of the nose as well. An additional option would be forehead augmentation if you were looking for a complete profile change. The benefits of each of these procedure individually and combined would be well illustrated by computer imaging which works really well for any of these facial profile changes.

The photograph demonstrates an overly projecting nose, and an under projecting chin. The rhinoplasty procedure can address de-projection of the nose, narrowing the bridge, refinement of the tip  and removing any dorsal hump that may be present. Perceptions of one ones' profile can be complex, difficult and personal.  Indeed our understanding of how we look from the side is only obtained from photographs, videos and statements made by others. Although there are accepted definitions of the “normal” facial ratios between the forehead, midface and lower jaw, the acceptable variations are wide. The profile can be altered a number of ways. The length and profile-hight of the nose can be changed with rhinoplasty. The chin can be brought forward either with implants or an operation called genioplasty. In this procedure the bone of the chin can be repositioned. The volume and shape of the cheeks can also be changed. It can be made larger with  lipo-filling (injections of fat or insertion of an implant). More rarely it can be made smaller with careful liposuction. For older patients a face lift with neck tightening and liposuction under the chin can significantly alter the the sagging profile of the face. Even the appearance and position of the forehead can be changed with complex craniofacial techniques. The correct response for you is that only a seeing an experienced surgeon who can assess the the key elements of your concerns after careful examination can a decision be made. This may well be chin implant, rhinoplasty or reassurance that you need nothing at all.
