A very important question. The timing of surgery is largely based on the stability of a patients weight, skin quality and breast feeding. If a patient is breast feeding I would not recommend surgery until she is finished. If the patient is not yet at goal weight inwould recommend waiting until either the goal weight has been achieved or every reasonable attempt to achieve the goal weight has been made. In addition I would wait at least six months in general after delivery to allow the skin and muscles to recover their shape and tone. Take care
Thanks for your questions. I would say wait at least 6 months. This way your body will be at a stable/normal weight. Be sure to find an experienced board certified plastic surgeon. It's also beneficial if the surgeon is an active member of ASPS and/or ASAPS.
Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. In my practice I recommend to wait at least 6 months after c-section to perform tummy tuck, these means when breastfeeding ends. If you aren't breastfeed and your post op is completely normal you can perform it. Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol.-
Thank you for your question. I prefer to have my patients wait approximately 6 months following child birth to have a tummy tuck. This allows the body sufficient time to recover. I also recommend that my patients return to their pre-pregnancy weight for the best results. Please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon for evaluation.
I prefer patients wait 6 months after C-sections to proceed with tummy tuck surgery. It takes this amount of time for the inflammation and scar tissue to resolve to maximize your result and minimize the chance for complications. During this time I recommend that my patients eat healthy and exercise to lose the baby weight. This can make the difference between a "good" result and a "great" result!
I usually recommend at least 6 months to pass after C section to allow your body to get back to normal, and allow you to lose as much pregnancy weight as possible to get the best result. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. I typically recommend that patients wait at least six months after delivery, or after nursing, before having elective surgery to their stomachs. This allows a patient's body to return to their new normal after pregnancy and affords their tissues an opportunity to shrink in size as their elasticity returns. Hope this helps.
In general, after pregnancy, one must wait at least six months prior to getting any body contouring surgery. Potentially more, depending on your physical exam. The reason is that your body, at three months, has not resumed its prior state. Your uterus may still be slightly large, you still may be retaining fluid, your skin may not have retracted, etc. If you get the procedure done now, your tissues may continue to change, thereby affecting your result. Start researching surgeons now, make some consultations, and focus on finding someone whom you trust. Plan to wait at least another three months and I think you'll end up happier.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
There is no set rule, but most would agree to wait at least 6 months. This will give you enough time to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight and get into the best shape that you can before surgery and for the healing to progress. Best to discuss your options with a American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) certified plastic surgeon with experience in abdominoplasty/tummy-tuck.
Hello dear, thanks for your post. If you are done having children it would be best to wait at least 8 months to undergo a tummy tuck. This gives your body enough time to return to it's prepregnancy condition and hopefully lose any additional weight gain during your last pregnancy. A tummy tuck is a very popular operation to recontour the abdomen and remove the irregularities remaining after C-sections. I recommend to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and for a person evaluation and concerns. Good luck! :)
If you are repeating what your surgeon did (using peroxide), this is what is "bleaching" the tissues white. Peroxide may help kill bacteria, but it also inhibits healing, unless, of course, there is active infection in the wound. (Then, you need more than peroxide.)Stop the peroxide, wash the...

I generally recommend a simple abdominal binder after surgery. We pull drains when they are less than 30 cc per day but if there is more then you may need the compression afterwards. A binder is basically a wide belt that puts compression. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon...
