Thank you for your question. I typically have my patients wear a compression garment for 6 - 8 weeks following surgery. I believe this helps decrease swelling and minimize the chance of seroma formation. I prefer the Marena brand because it can be precisely fitted to your measurements. Please return to your surgeon to discuss your concerns.
Every surgeon has his her favorite type of compression garment to use after body contouring procedures. I would discuss this with her plastic surgeon and get his/her recommendations. It doesn't matter so much about the brand of compression garment, as long as it Fitzhugh well and provides pressure over the area under which fluid might try to build up. Basically, the pressure over this potential space should be greater than the pressure of the fluid trying to build up, thereby preventing the fluid collection. As well, avoiding stress, strain, and excessive movement of those tissues may help, but I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon and get his/her specific recommendations as he/she is familiar with what procedure was performed and your course to this point.Best of luck!Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA
I generally recommend a simple abdominal binder after surgery. We pull drains when they are less than 30 cc per day but if there is more then you may need the compression afterwards. A binder is basically a wide belt that puts compression. Discuss this with your plastic surgeon.
congratulations on your recent Tummy Tuck! I recommend my tummy tuck patients to wear a compression garment around their abdomen for several weeks after surgery to reduce swelling; swelling can take up to 3-6 months to have a final result. Maintaining a healthy life style will help you have longer lasting results.A few vendors I recommend include Design Veronique and Marena.
Hi Ellbells, After looking at the fotos you sent I think you would be a good candidate for a tummy tuck. This procedure will correct the underlying muscle laxity and will remove the loose skin. The position of the incision and removal of the belly button piercing are dependent on how loose the...
Hello dear, thanks for your post and provided picture as well. Is really hard to tell by your photo. You may have a seroma. A seroma is a collection of fluid that builds up under the surface of your skin. Seromas may develop after a surgical procedure, most often at the site of the surgical ...
Thanks for your question. Minor aches and pains, including skin sensitivity, can persist for 3 to 6 months after surgery, sometimes even longer. Loss of sensitivity above the incision is permanent to a degree, although the area of numbness shrinks over the first year. Hope this...
