I've been doing a lot of research on this site and have seen a ton of before and after pictures of people who have received chin implants. I'm 17 years old, and am honestly pretty embarrassed by the size and shape of my chin. I don't have any pictures now, but basically I am fine with my face from the front but unhappy with my profile from the side. It makes me really self conscious. Looking at all the reviews on here makes me want to do it but I'm terrified that it's going to be really painful.

Answer: Pain Pain is really quite minimal. This procedure is usually done under local anesthesia, similar to dental work. Patients have very mild discomfort after the procedure and can usually work the next day if they are not self conscious of the swelling of the chin.

Answer: How much pain is involved in getting a chin implant? The procedure itself, other than injections of local anesthetic at the beginning, should be relatively painless. Afterward, in the first few days post surgery, most people describe mild to moderate discomfort that is easily treated with a narcotic pain medication or over the counter pain medication. If you are interested in the procedure, it would be helpful for you to seek a consultation. You will also need your parents support and consent if you want to have this performed before your 18th birthday. Even after your birthday you will want to involve your parents so they can help you through the recovery. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
