Will your surgery be canceled if your on your period and how do the hospital deal with the patient having cramps and etc while being drug up are they given some type of medicine for that or what

Having your menstrual period during surgery will not be an issue and your surgery does not need to be cancelled. You may take Tylenol for cramps prior to surgery. You will likely be prescribed some type of pain medication for your post operative pain which can help with your menstrual cramps and you will be given medication to control your pain intraoperatively. You may consult with your surgeon for more details.

Thanks for your inquiry and an excellent question.  There is no problem having your menstrual period and having breast augmentation.  We generally use a pad, because a tampon that is forgotten and/or not managed properly is serious concern.  I avoid NSAIDs for a few days around surgery, but you should be able to take tylenol, narcotics, and muscle relaxers.  Good Luck.

It is not pleasant to be on your period while undergoing surgery.  However, it should not delay or cancel your scheduled surgery.  Please let your surgeon and nurses know. They will take appropriate measure (in regards to pads and medication).Good luck with your surgery and recovery.

There is no problem having surgery during your cycle.  The pain medication for your surgery would cover any other pain you are having.  The only restriction may be the use of ibuprofen after surgery.  Your surgey will not be cancelled and you will do fine.  Good Luck

As you can imagine when operating on young women, probably 25% of them are on their period at the time of surgery. I would simply mention to the staff that gets you ready for surgery and they will know what to do. Best of luck in your surgery.
