I have blue veins under my eyes. I am ready to have removed or treated. What is the best option? (Photo)

Hi Nshsgrad, Thank you for your question and pictures regarding the treatment of the veins under your eyes. This is a fairly common problem. Due to thin skin underneath the lower eyelid, blue veins are common underneath the eye . Treatment of these blue eyelid veins requires experience and precision.  Based on the size and location of your blue lower eyelid veins, I would suggest using a ND:YAG laser.  This procedure is performed in the office with numbing cream. The procedure takes about 15 minutes. There is mild bruising. You are able to return to work after the procedure. Nice images. These veins are sizeable for microphlebectomy as BEST option. We specialize in this procedure. Generally, larger veins are best treated with micophlebectomy and not sclerotherapy.
An in person examination by someone who specializes in this technique is important.

There are many options to treat under eye veins including topical laser, fine needle RF and sclerotherapy.  I usually use a combination of sclerotherapy for the larger veins and fine needle RF for the smaller.  To find a doctor in your area to to the American College of Phlebology website.

I treat these types of veins successfully with long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser.  This is a sophisticated treatment which requires special care to protect the eyes.  Make sure to see a laser expert with experience treating these types of veins. Orbital veins are easily and safely treated with a laser. The best wavelength is 1064nm, also called Nd:Yag. Eye protection is important during the treatment. Usually it takes 1-2 treatments. You will have some mild redness and puffiness after the treatment. You can use ice.
