Is it normal to have fluid after Liposuction?

Thanks for your question and I am sorry for your complication. It does sound like you have a seroma, which is unusual after liposuction alone. I would recommend this fluid to be drained by your plastic surgeon or a radiologist under ultrasound guidance. The radiologist would also be able to place a small drain to be sure the fluid collection does not return. 

Seroma formation almost never occurs after conventional liposuction. When aided by a laser or ultrasound the risk for this complication goes up. Treatment is sequential aspiration until no further fluid accumulates.

this can happen after liposuction and needs to be asiprated, have compression, and RF treatments.  Hyperbaric oxygen also helps. I suggest seeing an expert.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Not sure if you have fluid after a month or a week based on your description but it is normal to be swollen after liposuction. If you have a fluid collection, or seroma, it can be aspirated or left to resorb on its own. This can take many weeks to then resolve. Best to regularly follow up with your operating surgeon so she can monitor your progress and do additional treatments/aspirations if needed.

What you are describing is a seroma and needs to be drained.  It will not heal on its own and you need to go back to your plastic surgeon and press her to remove the fluid.  

fluid after lipo is not uncommon. the fluid you have needs to be drained. i usually drain fluid once a week until it stops accumulating. you need to continue with your compression. go back to your BCPS to get this drained.
