A cold is usually self limited in a person with normal immunity but undergoing general anesthesia while having a cold may seriously complicate it and may result in pneumonia. Most Plastic surgeons would postpone your surgery to avoid such complications. Please contact your Plastic surgeon ASAP and notify him of your condition.
You should let your plastic surgeon know immediately. When general anesthesia is used or if an anesthesiologist is helping with the surgery then usually that person makes the final call if the surgery should be canceled or if it's OK to move forward.Surgery may need to be rescheduled if someone is coughing up phlegm or has had fevers.Having to cancel surgery on the day of is frustrating for everyone.Giving notice is always appreciated by everyone involved.Let your plastic surgeon know how you're feeling.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.

It needs to be under control, of course, so you need to let your surgeon know since the first day of consultation. You'll probably be required to get a clearance before surgery and some precautions may be taken.
