I am 25 years old, 118 pounds, 5'3. I have just had breast augmentation 450 cc silicone 5 days ago. I'm getting a feeling of a carpet burn on both side of my breast area; was wondering if that's normal? And how long I wait to massage them? I have been rubbing them gently with coconut oil twice a day and gently massage the top of my implant due to because it's still pretty high.. When should I really start massaging my breasts? And is there anything I can do about the carpet burn pain on the side ?

Thank you for submitting your question.  Textured implants do not need 
to be massaged.  Experiecming numbess, hypersensitiyvity and other sensatins is very common after breast augmentatin surgery.  This will imprive over time.  Discuss your concerns with your 
surgeon and for reassurance.

This type of hypersensitivity can occur after breast augmentation.  It may take 6 months or more to go away, but it is typically not a surgical concern.  It can be very painful and there is no particular treatment that works. Sometimes vibratory stimulation of the breast skin will train the nerves not to respond so vigorously to the nerve stretch that causes hypersensitivity.  After
breast implant surgery, I advise the patients to take one week off from work.
 At that point we take out their stitches and teach them the implant
massage technique.  We suggest 5 times per day with the massage and no bra
for one month.  The patients may return to work, but may not engage in any
strenuous activity.  At one month, the patients start to wear a of cup bra
with no underwire and can start low impact cardio.  At two months they can
wear an underwire bra and engage in more strenuous physical activity.
 Breast massage continues forever, although only once per day.

I would recommend that you call your surgeon and explain the symptoms you are having. He/she will probably want to see you in a follow up visit so they can examine you to make sure things are healing properly and that you have no developing problems. You should check with him/her about starting massage as well.
