Will my breasts ever start to develop normally? (I have tubular breast and doesn't run in the family)

Question

I'm 16 and I have tubular breasts (I don't plan on getting surgery under the age of 18). Recently I went to my doctor to check if there were any issues with my irregular period, I got a ultrasound to check if my ovaries were fine and they were. My doctor mentioned that they were to do with my hormones and they would mature and start to regulate until I get older. So I wondering would it be possible for my breasts to develop if my hormones were to boost and if my period were to regulate? thnx.

Hang in there! As long as the shape and size are improving year to year, however slowly, there is still hope for them to continue to evolve improve in contour.

Hi Claire,Your hormones stimulate your breast tissue to develop. The shape of the breasts is determined by the breast tissue amount, location and sensitivity to the hormones. If your issue is a tubular breast it is unlikely that further exposure to hormones will have a beneficial effect on the shape. They may increase in size but the nature of the relationship of the breast tissue to the skin and the enlarged areola will not get better on their own.Luckily it can be addressed as you get a bit older with minimal scarring.Best of LuckDr. JA. If your are not having regular periods, then you may still be growing. The breasts may still change. Be patient and good luck.
