What type of rhinoplasty should I have to alter the front ONLY? (Photos)

An open septorhinoplasty can best address your nose, and is particularly effective at addressing the size, shape, and definition- from some or all angles! You seem to be a very good candidate for rhinoplasty. In the hands of an experienced board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in rhinoplasty you can expect quite an improvement. In the process of consultation you can express your desires and esthetic concerns. Most offices where rhinoplasty is frequently performed will have a 3D simulation software which will give you a chance not only to see your projected result but also participate and influence decision making about shape and size of your nose. The biggest problem with your nose is the cartilage that is visible on the frontal view. Also, on your base view looking up your nose, you have a square tip. You will need a cartilage refinement and you do not need anything done on the dorsum, if you do not want that done. Although you have a small super tip hollow.

Based on your photos, you appear to have a wide bridge and a bulbous nasal tip appearance. Your nostrils appear a bit asymmetrical, and this could be due to a deviated nasal septum. Although I like the angle between the bottom of your nose and upper lip, you appear to have a tension lip deformity that may be repaired at the time of surgery. Hi, It is better for you to consult with your facial plastic surgeon who can examine you and give you opinion based on examination. Working in front view to achieve narrower and small nose doesn't mean you will have slopey nose, it is more natural to have straight or slit curve profile.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Cartilage grafts may also be used to help improve tip refinement. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

every rhinoplasty is unique in terms of patient's starting anatomy and, more importantly, their goals. A well trained plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon with focus on rhinoplasty should be able to hear your concerns during the consultation process. Based on these goals and your specific anatomy, they will be able to give you a recommendation on how best to achieve those results. I use pre-operative simulations for all rhinoplasty patients, tho ensure that both patient and surgeon are on the same page going into surgery. If your primary concern is your bulbous tip and width of the nose, these can be addressed while avoiding an overly stylized nose post-operatively.

Hello, thank you for your question. Everyone has different tastes in what they want and it is really important to convey that to your surgeon. Rhinoplasty is a complex art because changes that we make to the front or sides inevitably affect other parts of the nose's appearance.
I agree with you! I do like your dorsum on profile. I do think it is possible to maintain the essense of your dorsal profile from the side while changing the front. From a "classic aesthetics" point of view, yes, your dorsum is wide on front view and 3/4ths view. I believe that the width of the dorsum needs to be narrowed and then the boney base brought in to close the roof of the dorsum. This should be able to be done without dropping the dorsum significantly. Any changes you desire for tip refinement can also be done conservatively according to your wishes.
As to whether you need an ethnic rhinoplasty specialist, they tend to focus on races and noses that lack bony bridges such as some people of Asian or African descent. These patients actually require augmentation of the dorsum with rib or a prosthetic, something you aren't looking for.
Just find someone that understands what you are looking for, has experience with rhinoplasty, and has the same goals as you for the final outcome!

A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish narrowing your nasal tip, which is quite bulbus, in addition to osteotomies placed in the nasal bones to narrow the bridge line. All of the incisions are placed on the inside of the nose, and no painful packing is required either. Choose a Facial Plastic Surgeon who specializes in closed rhinoplasty for best results. Look at your prospective surgeon's before and after rhinoplasty photo gallery, which should be extensive with results that you really like, and look very natural. Digital computer imaging would also be helpful in the communication process to understand what can be accomplished with your nose upon your facial features.Your side profile does look great, so very minimal changes are required there at all.

Hi MartiCo, An experienced rhinoplasty surgeon will tailor changes to suit your unique facial features, ensuring a natural result. There’s no need to exaggerate a slope if that’s not what you want. The issue you’re describing is likely due to a large, dome-like lower lateral crura, which creates the widened tip you mentioned. It’s essential to select a surgeon whose work aligns with your aesthetic goals. For example, due to my philosophy on aesthetics and emphasis on nasal breathing, I rarely, if ever, perform rhinoplasties that result in very "slopey" or thin noses. Regarding African American nose specialists, you don’t necessarily need an ethnic nose specialist for your rhinoplasty, as your nose does not require the specific adjustments commonly associated with ethnic rhinoplasty.
