I had my rhinoplasty done 7 months ago in another country. Everything went great and I’m overall happy but I do have a question. Is there a way to tell if the bump on my nose is swelling? If it’s not swelling I guess that would mean it’s scar tissue or maybe he just didn’t remove all of the bump that I used to have? I don’t really know. Is nasal rasping something that can be done for this sort of issue?
Answer: Beautiful Result It is good that you’re overall pleased with your rhinoplasty results since the result looks beautiful and natural. Here are some points to consider regarding the bump on your nose: • Swelling Assessment: It can be challenging to distinguish between residual swelling and scar tissue without an in-person evaluation. At 7 months post-op, some swelling may still be present, particularly in certain areas, though it should be largely resolved by 7 months. • Scar Tissue: If the bump is due to scar tissue, (the nasal bones heal with scar tissue called callous) there options for reducing it. Steroid injections are sometimes used to minimize scar tissue, depending on the assessment. • Residual Bump: If your initial bump was not entirely removed, this could be the cause. An evaluation would be necessary to confirm this. If this is the case, it looks natural. • Nasal Rasping: This is a procedure that can refine the contour of the nasal bridge. It may be an option depending on the underlying cause of the bump, but it’s important to assess suitability on a case-by-case basis. It is recommended to follow up with your primary surgeon if you have any concerns and your surgeon will most likely be happy to assess you and offer you management options.

Answer: A tiny profile pump after rhinoplasty may not necessitate additional surgery. I had to zoom in on your photo in order to see the small bump in your mid bridge. In our experience, small irregularities like this may be permanently corrected by adding volume above the small bump. We prefer using microdroplets Silikon 1000 for permanent results. Thank you for this question. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: Nasal bump It could be scar tissue or residual cartilage but either way it is barely noticeable. It is best to leave it alone. Only if it becomes worst over time, should you consider any intervention. I always like to say about rhinoplasties, IMHO 'Quit while you are ahead'. Regards Dr. J

Answer: Dorsal fullness Hello and thank you for your question. At seven months it is very normal to be swollen in the tip. However dorsal irregularities usually get worse with time instead of better. If you end up getting a revision in the future, you should consider having a dorsal fascial onlay graft placed for smoother dorsal contour. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G.
