I have lumpy and uneven lips one week after 1 syringe of Volbella. Is Hylarex to dissolve it my last option? (photos)

Thank you for your question. Using Hylenex is a great option if massage is not working. When massaging you do need to press very firmly to smooth it out. If this isn't working however, dissolving is what I would recommend. It only takes a few units and you would not lose all of the fullness from the filler, just the tiny bump that needs smoothed you. Its a great and quick option that I believe would make you much happier with your lips. Good luck!

Bruising, swelling, sometimes discoloration, lumps, and bumps are normal side effects assuming proper injection. They should be gone in a matter of days. In general, if it continues to feel uncomfortable up to this time, consult your doctor to get a complete assessment or have the filler dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Hello, Based on the photos, you would need a further in person evaluation. You can keep massaging and wait until the filler dissolves naturally. Otherwise, the fastest option is to use Hylenex. Dr. Chase Lay, MD

Hi, thank you for your question and photos. I can appreciate the asymmetry in the lips based on your photos and I suggest having an evaluation with your provider to dissolve the parts which are uneven. It is a very easy treatment and the results are fast.

Thank you for your question and for providing pictures. There does appear to be a visible lump of product in the picture. Volbella is very malleable and can usually be flattened with hard massage. We would suggest your provider try that first. If the product fails to flatten you can use the hyaluronidase or wait for the product to dissolve on its own.

Hylenex can be used to remove the filler. I personally tell patients NOT to massage filler on their own, as they often make things much, much worse and move the filler around to unwanted places. This could have been what you did, especially considering you have Volbella. Small amounts of Hylenex can be injected to fix just the areas that the product is in pockets now.
