My plastic surgeon used a program to show how my rhinoplasty will look after and it looks nothing like it. It’s been a year and a few months since my surgery and I’ve lost a lot of projection and point of my nose. I explained to the doctor that I was unhappy with the results and he told me that the cartilage used can sometimes disappear and that I should be lucky that my nose is symmetrical. I have had some kind of steroid injected already to make it look slimmer. What else can you suggest I do?
Answer: Options for addressing loss of projection after Asian rhinoplasty Creating permanent projection to the tip of the nose is an extremely challenging aspect of Asian rhinoplasty, as often the natural cartilage framework of the nose is weak relative to the thickness and strength of the overlying skin envelope. As long as your own cartilage was used, resorption is uncommon, but the grafts that were formed from your own cartilage may not have been sufficient in size or shape. Re-establishing the significant amount of projection you seek would necessitate a revision surgery, but the good news is that in experienced hands a revision surgery would have a high likelihood of creating the shape that you seek.

Answer: Tip graft may help Greetings from Istanbul, Turkey. I'm sorry to hear about your concerns post-surgery. Adding tip grafts can help in restoring some projection; however, I believe the exact amount you desire is a little too much and would lead to an unnatural look. A lesser projection may create a more natural and harmonious result. I'd recommend consulting with another board-certified plastic surgeon in-person for a second opinion and to explore your options further. Best wishes on your journey

Answer: Revision Hi kawaiiknives. If you truly want a result like what you drew, you would need a revision surgery to add projection. It is possible actually that the steroid injection (depending on where it was injected to the nose) ate away some of the projection you had. To build it up more, you would need a substantial amount of cartilage here, either as tip/dome grafts vs. a septal extension graft. It is doable but you want to make sure you go to a good surgeon because revision rhinos are much riskier, much less predictable, and much more difficult so you will need to decide whether it is worth it to you to pursue this. Good luck!

Answer: Revision of Asian rhinoplasty It would be very hard to give you good advise about what is needed to achieve further improvement ,without in person consultation. If your surgeon does not think that further improvement is possible, you should look for a second opinion consult by another, board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in Asian rhinoplasty. Hope this helps.

Answer: Rhinoplasty outcome I’m sorry to hear about your experience with your rhinoplasty results. In this case, it’s essential -as you mentioned you did- to voice your concerns to your original surgeon and seek a second opinion from another qualified plastic surgeon expert in rhinoplasty revision to discuss potential treatment options - that can include filler injections and revision. I hope this helps, best of luck !
