I am obese. In the last year I gained more pounds and my breast change more. I believe they got bigger. However the nipple position is concerning me. My breasts hang down with the left nipple pointing down and a bit to the right. My right breast is the same however the skin and what makes up the breast seems to be more on the right side and the nipple is against my stomach. Its like the skin underneath didn't grow with the breast. Should I be worried something is wrong?
Answer: Nipple position Thanks for your inquiry, but without a picture it is hard to advise. It is not uncommon for women to have breast and nipple asymmetry and a lower position. In terms of being concerning, the position of the nipple areolar compex in itself should not be medically concerning. Please see your primary care doctor to discuss your breast health if you are concerned.

Answer: Breast shape Thank you for your question. Nipple position tends to be slightly outward and ideally is positioned at the point of maximal projection on the breast mound. With ptosis (sagging) and with weight gain and loss, the nipples can often medialize (point inwards as well as down). This is a common occurrence, causes no issues other than the cosmetics of the breast.

Answer: I have a concern about my breast shape and nipple position. The right nipple not facing forward. Is it normal? Hi. I'm afarid that without the benefit of photos ,it's impossible to give you an accurate assessment as to your particular situation. Just know that breast asymmetry is the norm rather than the exception. Relax. Good luck Dr. PG

Answer: This sounds like you have sagging Hello and thanks for your question. It sounds like you're describing saggy breasts. When the breast tissue rests on your tummy, the nipples point downwards, and the breasts look long and stretchy then you have sagging. I cannot confirm this because I cannot examine you. If sagging can be confirmed, then you might need a breast lift, but this can only be confirmed on examination. You appear to be a grade 2 or 3 level of sagging of your breast tissue. In my office, patients with similar findings will be recommended a vertical or anchor breast lift and implants combination if they want the sagging to be reduced, lift the nipples to a more ideal location, and have better long term results. With breast implants you can choose a bigger breast size and therefore will be much fuller than your current size. However, there's no way to recommend a particular size or even whether you should perform the operation without the ability to examine your breasts. Best, Dr. ALDO.

Answer: Breast Augmentation Thanks for your question. Almost everyone has some degree of breast asymmetry. Your weight gain may be making this asymmetry more obvious which is why you have been noticing the difference. It is impossible to assess what surgical options would be best for you without an in-person consultation. It is important to note that before any procedure it is important you reach your ideal, stable weight through diet and exercise. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
