Post hair transplant, my doctor told me to put bacitracin on my scalp. It has become red. Is this going to affect my grafts?

If you notice a reaction after applying Bacitracin, it may be an allergic reaction.  You need to call your doctor as soon as possible.  It may also be a sign of infection.

This could be an allergy and you should go back in for an evaluation.  It could affect your results. 

Bacitracin can cause topical allergies which can cause redness and itching. If that is the case, stop it immediately. You can just use regular shampoo at this time.

Some doctors use neosporine and bacitracin after FUT on the donor site for about two weeks. If you are experiencing redness you may have allergic reaction to it and you need to stop.  Call your doctor .

Some people are allergic to Bacitracin. However, with any redness in the post operative period it is important to rule out an infection. Please contact your surgeon's office for further help.

Bacitracin is a topical antibiotic and a very common cause of allergy in the United States. I would recommend you seeing a dermatologist specializing in hair and scalp.  You are having a contact dermatitis to bacitracin and you need a course of topical steroids to reduce the inflammation.  If this is done quickly,  your grafts should be safe.
