How can I tighten loose skin under chin? (Photo)

I'm only 38 but have loose skin under my chin that ages me and i want to address it. I don't think there's much fat. I've gained and lost 60 lbs with two pregnancies. Do I need a neck lift? Or could something like thermage give me good results?

Thank you for your question. In my opinion the problem in your neck is due to the contraction of the Platysma muscle no much to the skin. The muscle is pulling your skin so you need a neck lift with enfaces in the platysma muscle.

Facial-neck aging with excess skin etc. Having evaluated my results for 45 years in my opinion you will need a good facelift done by an experienced facelift surgeon. Look at his before-after photos and choose several whose results you like. Look for natural results and no visible scars!

Based on these photos you are a good candidate for neck lift. Through a small incision underneath the chin, muscle bands which create current deformity, should be rearranged and platysma muscle tightened. Skin will re-drape and there will be no skin redundancy. I think you would be an excellent candidate for a neck lift.   The problem is one of a noticeable platysmal band in the midline.   Non medical techniques would be of modest benefit, although you could certainly try botox injections to soften the muscle.  Fortunately you are young and the skin will redrape nicely after the surgery.  You should contact qualified plastic surgeons in your area.

While you may be young you have enough loose skin to warrant a limited form of a lower facelift, otherwise known as a neck-jowl lift. You have enough loose neck skin that the only satisfactory improvement will be to drive the loose skin up and back toward the ears for removal. No direct necklift done from underneath the chin can adequately resolve the loose neck skin issue. Nn-surgical approaches will be even more disappointing.

There appears to be a significant amount of loose skin in the neck related to weight gain or loss, genetics,  and the aging process. Minimal invasive treatments only give minimal if any results. In our practice, a neck lift procedure only sculpts a new neck by removal of fat and tightening the  Platysma muscle in the front.  A neck lift alone does not tighten loose and inelastic skin. When there is significant skin laxity in the neck, a lower face and neck lift procedure will be required not only to tighten the loose and inelastic skin in the neck itself, but there will be some in the lower face as well. In addition, any residual fat deposits in the neck are also removed and a platysma -plasty is performed in three locations in the neck itself.

Hi, it looks like you have beautiful bone structure and your skin is very good condition. You do have skin laxity which shows in the front part of your neck. No question that weight gain and loss contributes to this. Although non-invasive technologies, such as Thermage or Ultherapy, can provide slight benefit for some patients, the results are more subtle and less predictable than a cheek neck lift. A cheek neck lift can be performed with oral sedation and local anesthesia in an office setting. It takes about 2 weeks to recover from this procedure. I would expect very significant improvement with your issue.
