I really want a rhinoplasty but my main concern is going under anesthesia since that can always cause complications. My only experience with anesthesia was almost 9 years ago for a tooth extraction. The records say it was general but all I remember was getting the IV and then waking up. My biggest concern right now is waking up after surgery. How can I address this to my surgeon and the anesthesiologist?

Answer: How long does it take to wake up from anesthesia after rhinoplasty? Hello and thank you for your question. You should directly ask and discuss your concerns with your surgeon and anesthesia provider. Waking up from anesthesia is typically quick and in your case should be similar to your last one. Done by certified anesthesia provider, general anesthesia is very safe. Best wishes and good luck, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: How long does it take to wake up from anesthesia after rhinoplasty? The time you will be under anesthesia will depend upon multiple factors and will vary from patient to patient. Generally, the surgery takes 1 to 1.5 hours; more complicated cases can take 3 - 4 hours. You should not be concerned about waking up if you use a board certified PS and a board certified anesthesiologist. Speak to both the PS and anesthesiologist about your concerns as they can alleviate your anxiety by answering your specific questions.
