I suggest a formal consultation as liposuction often works well here, but you may be more of a candidate for volume and face/neck lifting surgery. Best, Dr. Emer.
I would recommend a face-lift to get rid of your jowls. They are made up of lose skin and also underlying fat and muscle that needs to be restore to it youthful position
Isolated liposuction can result in short term improvement however I typically recommend that all of the areas of the lower cheek, jowl and neck be treated in concert together. Treating a single aspect of any of these areas will result in an unnatural appearance, if not in the short term then for sure in the long term. Balanced and natural results are essential. For this reason, I typically address the jowl and neck area with a face, neck lift. I want my patients to hear "wow you look great" not, "what did you have done". The most important recommendation that I can give is that you have a consult from a highly experienced well trained surgeon. This is essential because every face is unique and every treatment plan should be unique for the specific face.
In our practice, we do not recommend liposuction of the jowls, since there will be significant irregularities present in the jowls afterwards. The jowls must be lifted with a facelift procedure to restore volume from where they fell down from. A facelift with a SMAS lift will accomplish the goals of facial rejuvenation. In people with good skin elasticity and no significant muscle looseness, liposuction alone can be a good option. In your case, I would not be comfortable offering liposuction alone, as I believe it would result in inadequate results due to increased skin looseness, and untreated looseness of the deeper tissues.Instead, I would proceed with a mini facelift, which would treat the jowl fullness as well as the skin and muscle looseness.
The standard treatment for jowls is a facelift. Liposuction can help to some minor degree, but this is typically not a condition of excess fat but, rather, of skin and muscle laxity. Sometimes small amounts of fillers can be injected right in front of the jowls in an attempt to camouflage them.If you're interested in having a significant improvement, then I suggest you consult with a plastic surgeon regarding a facelift.By the way, a facelift typically treats the lower one third of the face and neck. Sometimes neck lifts are used interchangeably with facelifts.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
Most young people who have an ill-defined jawline have so because of facial skeletal disproportion. The jaw or the mandible is often small in relation to the maxilla or the mid-face. While your chin has significant projection, my guess is the overall size of your mandible is small in relation to...
Both options that you have mentioned for chin liposuction are very reasonable for a healthy patient. IV sedation will provide the most comfort for you and decrease a patient's anxiety during the procedure. I have perform chin liposuction using both methods of anesthesia. I...
For my patients, when used, the elastic chin/face garment should be comfortable with just mild elasticity felt.
