450cc high profile round implants when wanted tear dropped shaped implants - would it be worth a revision? (photo)

Every implant has pros and cons. Shaped have less upper pole fullness ( ie - push up look), but can rotate and are generally more expensive. Round are more shape predictable independent of rotation, and depending on the profile, provide different degrees of upper pole fullness. This is something I feel is important to discuss with patients to try to get an idea of what you, the patient , are looking for. Photos definitely help. It would be worthwhile to discuss this with your surgeon with a less projecting implant, although they are broader at the base ( for the same volume). The exchange is usually straight forward.

I am sorry to hear about your concerns after breast surgery.My general thoughts regarding the potential need for revisionary breast surgery:  I advise patients to carefully consider their degree of concern with the outcome of the initial breast surgery and weigh these concerns against the potential risks/complications associated with the planned revisionary breast surgery.   For example, if the patient is concerned about her breast appearance on a daily or frequent basis, it is likely that revisionary surgery will be helpful when it comes to improving her quality of life.  On the other hand, if the patient's degree of concern seems minor and/or she is  infrequently concerned about the areas of concern, I would recommend against revisionary  breast surgery.
Best to communicate any specific concerns/goals directly with your plastic surgeon; in my practice this communication is best done using goal photographs in front of a full length mirror.

I love the result with tear drop shaped or anatomical implants, particularly with your frame in your pre-op photo. It is sad that your surgeon dissuaded you due to possibly inexperience with them. I think you would be happy to exchange them with little downtime for recovery. You will probably have to find a different surgeon though. Best wishes. . 

Thank you for including photographs from different angles and from prior to your surgery!  There is a staggering number of implants out there, differing in not only volume but thickness (profile), shape (round and teardrop), and firmness.  A high profile implant will always appear to be the most projected.  If your desire is for less upper pole fullness and less cleavage, using a less projected implant (whether it's a round moderate profile or moderate plus profile, or a teardrop shaped implant) will likely achieve that.  There are some limitations and technical difficulties associated with teardrop implants, including rotation.  You should speak to your plastic surgeon about possibly changing out the implants to something less projected if you feel you have too much fullness and cleavage.  Best wishes!

Despite looking different outside of the body, i would be surprised if you would really notice that much of a change, if you switch to tear dropped implants. A few years ago, i went to a very well known plastic surgery meeting in SF and basically the panel of "experts" and the audience of plastic surgeons, could never figure out when they looked at before and after photos of women having both tear dropped or round implants, which women received which type of implants. i think you would waste a lot of money. in addition if your surgeon used a small incision and a keller funnel  to insert your implants, it would require a much larger incision to get the implants out which means if you have a periareolar incision, you will now have to switch to an inframammary incision.david berman md

450cc High profile implants project higher than mid-profile or tear drop. A revision would correct the upper pole fullness without major recovery. Some surgeons act like they know best and this can be a detriment.
