Chemical peels done at home are extremely risky. You could be left with permanent damage. Some things are better left to a professional and applying acid to the face is one of them. Please see an educated, licensed professional for treatment.
Good afternoon and thank you for your question! Depending on how many layers of the peel that are applied on the skin it will need to be done either by an esthetician (modified Jessner's up to 2 layers) or a physician (Jessner's multiple layers). A traditional Jessner's peel is a combination of 14% resorcinol, 14% salicylic acid, and 14% lactic acid in an alcohol base. There are modified versions of the peel, as well. This peel is commonly used for combination to oily skin that has some degree of photo-damage and/or acne. Skin that is sensitive, dry, or those that have rosacea should not receive this peel due to the higher alcohol content. I would suggest consulting a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist before performing any type of chemical peel at home. Best of luck!
