Dear tekteach,as long as your MS is under control and you get a clearance from your doctor, you might be a candidate for a surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hello, Based on your description of stable multiple sclerosis, and assuming you have obtained "medical clearance" from your neurologist, you should be able to proceed with elective surgery. Take a look at the video below to answer your question further.
Some patients with more advanced disease may need clearance from a neurologist or may not be candidates for surgery. In most patients with MS, surgery with general anesthesia is well tolerated.Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
tekteach I appreciate your concern, however you should be able to undergo mommy makeover surgery if several conditions are met. It is important that your care be coordinated by your board-certified plastic surgeon and neurologist or medical doctor treating your MS. Coordination of your medications must be planned far ahead of your surgery to insure an uneventful recovery. Discuss your concerns and cosmetic surgical desires with all doctors treating you at this time. Best of luck.
Thank you for your inquiry, as long as your surgeon and neurologist agree it is safe and coordinate your medications, it can definitely be safely explored, good luck.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Please talk to your primary doctor to see if you are clear for plastic surgery and then I suggest you to book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss the best options for your goals.Hope this is helpful. Good luck :)
You will need to get full medical clearance from your specialist before considering a Mommy Makeover. This assumes that you are a good candidate for the procedures and your Mulitple Sclerosis is well controlled at this time. See a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation to learn more.
Hi tekteach and thank you for your question. A mommy makeover is an elective cosmetic surgical procedure and does require that patients obtain medical clearance prior to surgery. Assuming that you are a good candidate for a mommy makeover and that you have obtained full medical clearance from your primary care physician and neurologist, it is likely that you can safely proceed with surgery. The purpose of medical clearance is to determine whether or not a patient is medically optimized for surgery and should your neurologist or primary care physician believe that you are at increased risks for complications, as a result of your MS or any other medical condition, or that you are an unfit surgical candidate they will not and should not clear you.Having well-controlled MS should not prevent you from obtaining the body contour that you desire, in and of itself. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is well-experienced in these procedures and who is both familiar and comfortable operating on patients with MS. I hope that you find this helpful and I wish you my very best!
Thank you for the question. Based on your description of stable multiple sclerosis, and assuming you have obtained "medical clearance" from your neurologist, you should be able to proceed with elective surgery. I think you'll find that most well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons will have had significant experience helping patients with multiple sclerosis achieve their desired outcome.Your best bet: choose your plastic surgeon very carefully; everything else including good judgment/advice/planning, anesthesia provider and safe (and quality) surgery will follow.I hope this helps.
Any surgery and anesthesia event can be riskier in an MS patient and, of course, a mommy makeover is purely elective. The critical concerns should be discussed with your neurologist who will be required to give clearance.
Hi & thanks for your question! I would use a high SPF sunscreen/block for the first year. You can wear a two piece swimsuit as long as you apply sunscreen to the belly button/ scars. Best of luck!
The timing for resuming social drinking after a mommy makeover can vary based on several factors, including the specific procedures performed, individual healing, and your overall health. It's crucial to follow the postoperative instructions provided by your plastic surgeon and consult with them...
I'm sorry to hear of the symptoms you are experiencing. They could be related to the effects of anesthesia, medication you are currently taking, or dehydration. I encourage you to discuss the situation with your surgeon if your symptoms do not improve.
