I recently went to see a retina specialist because a floater in my right eye and ended up having a laser treatment in my left eye after they found a tear. Does this make me a high risk for having an upper and lower blepharoplasty done?
Answer: Retina repair you should not have a problem with undergoing an upper and lower blepharoplast after having a retinal tear. I would just talk to your retina surgeon and let him know your plans.

Answer: Eyelid surgery candidate ? I think I understand what you are asking. If you are asking if retina surgery affects your risks the short answer is no; retina surgery does not affect your risks for blepharoplasty/eyelid surgery. The reason is that the retina is in a completely different location from the area of the eyelid surgery so its not directly connected in anyway. Once your ophthalmologist gives you medical clearance for the procedure, then you can go ahead. If your question is if retina surgery affects your chances of having to undergo blepharoplasty - then the answer is also no, as any surgery on the retina does not affect the appearance of the eyelids.

Answer: Eyelid Surgery and Retinal Detachment Those of us who have been doing this surgery for a long time have had many patients with history of retinal detachment treated with laser. It does not pose a problem at all. However, it is important to have the blessings from your retina surgeon as well. Good Luck.

Answer: Eyelid Surgery: Risk of Retinal Damage after Laser For Tear Cs9159 You ask an excellent question! I hope that your tear is healing well. It is important to know how long ago you had the surgery as your Eyelid surgeon will cause some manipulation to your eye during the procedure. The laser that the retinal surgeon performed helps to " seal" the retinal tear but the healing is not immediate. There are no hard and fast rules but personally I would wait at least 6 months before having eyelid surgery. I would be seen by the retinal surgeon prior to the eyelid surgery as well ( approximately 2 weeks). While there are many great eyelid surgeons , I would personally only go to an Ocular Plastic Surgeon after having a retinal tear or detachment surgery; as the Ocular Plastic Surgeon is also an ophthalmologist and understands not only the eyelid anatomy but the ocular pathology intimately as well. I have successfully performed numerous eyelid surgeries on clients who have had other ocular pathology. Best of Luck!

Answer: Is there an increased risk with Bleph following RD repair? Thank you for the sharing your question. There usually is no problem having blepharoplasty performed following retinal detachment surgery. Theoretically, if excessive manipulation or pressure is applied to the eye during blepharoplasty, the retina could be effected. You should discuss your concerns with your retina surgeon and eyelid surgeon. Good luck,
