I am 10 wks post upper blepharoplasty. Apparently, I am the exception to quick healing & its been a slow, frustrating process after several resuturing of my left eye incision due to dehiscence. Now there are tiny bumps on inner eye incision. I have tried gentle massage but they do not seem to be going away. Will they eventually flatten out with time? Should I use the antibiotic steroid ointment on them?

Answer: Slow wound healing Thank you for your question. It is too early to judge your scar, because it takes up to one year for the wound to heal completely. I would expect the scar to be much better with time. Wear sunglasses to prevent pigmentary changes. Good luck.

Answer: Bumps along upper blepharoplasty incision Hello. Thank you for your question. I understand your frustration with the prolonged healing. However, I would suggest that you continue to be patient with the healing process and the bumps should diminish over time. It is not uncommon for bumps along the suture line to develop after eyelid surgery when sutures on the surface of the skin are used. Due to the fact that you had some issues with dehiscence requiring repeated manipulation of the tissues and resuturing, there will certainly be some additional inflammation and delayed healing expected. The healing process after any surgery can take up to 9-12 months for the tissue remodeling to complete. I anticipate that you will see gradual improvement week by week as your body heals itself from the procedure. I hope this information helps.
