Question

I am 7 weeks post op. I understand it's early and I would need to wait till 6 months until everything settles. I still question if my right breast is bottoming out (especially with how much the implant drops below the nipple and incision when my arms are raised), and if running will worsen it. I started running 30-40 mins this last week. I am following up w/my doctor, but extra opinions are greatly appreciated. 125 lbs / 5'5 / prior A cup / 350 CC Mentor smooth round / under muscle

Good afternoon!I would suggest you hold off on running for at least three months. Bottoming out can get worse by running, and no bra in the world can fix bottoming out once it occurs- only surgery!

I am sorry to hear about your concerns after breast augmentation surgery. I agree with you that your right breast implant  does seem to sit somewhat low on your chest wall consistent with bottoming out.  Although it is hard to predict whether running will worsen things, I think that it is safe to say that running will not help.  You may wish to stick with lower impact exercise (and the use of very supportive bras when you exercise) if possible.  In the longer term, revisionary surgery involving capsulorraphy will likely be necessary. Congratulations on your breast augmentation.  Yes, it is very important that she wear a supportive sports bra which provides good support of the fold under your breast when you plan on running.  Of course check this with your plastic surgeon

Yes, running will make the bottoming out worse IMO. I require my patients to wear a specific underwire bra and absolutely do no pec exercise or jarring exercise like running for 3 months. It only makes sense that you need to give the implants the full time needed to heal the capsule around them. Using this approach, my revision rate is parctically zero.
