Am I allergic to my silicone implants? Or will this rash go away?

I have mentor silicone implants, could i be allergic to my implants? I have rash hives on the bottom of both my boobs and it is spreading around my boob going up a little more. I am very scared, I am 3 weeks post op and the rash became more apparent week 2 until now. I had texture silicone implants before and I was fine. I'm just scared I am allergic to my implants and that this rash/hive will not go away. I put cream on it but it's not going away yet.

You need to see your surgeon about this rash right away. I would be concerned about something more serious than an allergic reaction. I doubt you're "allergic" to silicone, but you should see your doctor for an evaluation as soon as you can.Best wishes, Dr. ALDO

Thank you for your question.  Based on the description of your rash is likely a contact dermatitis due to latex or soap or some other contaminant and your bra.You're not allergic to your breast implants, as silicone does not elicit an allergic response.It is very important that she see her plastic surgeon for examination, diagnosis of what is causing the allergic reaction and appropriate treatment.

You could have a reaction to the tape or sutures.  It is highly unlikely you are allergic to the implants.  See you surgeon to confirm.
