I'm a waitress, can I go to work 5 days after my surgery?

I was going to take time off but I will be so bored. Can I go to work 4 days later or should I take some time off? Sometimes it gets busy and I need to carry heavy things but I could take it a little easy but I also don't know if it would be easy enough. I want to be safe but I also don't want to become depressed because I'm so bored!
