Answer: My BMI is 42. I want to get a tummy tuck and BBL, also breast lift. Would I be a good candidate? Most plastic surgeons would recommend weight loss to a safe BMI prior to surgery to reduce the risks of complications during and after surgery.Kenneth Hughes, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BMI too heavy for tummy tuck I know that weight gain can be extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, tummy tuck and liposuction elective surgery is not a good answer. There are just too many added risks with excess weight and the results are almost always limited. You might have more healthy and safe results by consulting with a nutritionist, endocrinologist, personal trainer, or weight loss expert.

Answer: High BMI and Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question. Based on your description, I would suggest losing weight for optimal results. A BMI over 30 significantly increases your risks of complications such as fluid pockets and wound healing issues. Additionally, you will not get the best result at that weight and high BMI. Consider discussing weight loss surgery with your internist or family practice physician. Good luck.
