I Decided to have rhinoplasty because I don’t like my bulbous tip, the irregularity in front view and the wide part of the bridge. I photoshopped my nose and am not sure if this is doable (more or less) with medium skin. Also, I have no idea if a slightly sloped profile would be better or a straight profile. I do tend to prefer “cute” noses. Any advice on what to request?
Answer: Sloped or straight nose Hi there. Thank you for your post although without the photos, it is hard to comment specifically on the photoshopped changes. In general, a slightly sloped nose gives a more feminine side profile, whereas, a straight nose is generally desirable in men. Having said that, in my practice, I favour just a gentle lift at the tip - enough to give a nice feminine look but still keeping it natural and not like a nose that has been done! Good luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Unfortunately I am not able to view your pictures. It may be helpful to try to upload them again. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty - sloped or straight? Every nose is different and unique to that individual. If the appearance of your nose concerns you enough to do something about it, it can be improved with a natural artistically performed rhinoplasty. What would be the best option and exact procedure would depend on an examination and discussion about desired outcome. Excellent results can be achieved with either a closed or open technique.Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). If you live outside of the United States, the surgeon should ideally be a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, M.D., FACSLa Jolla, California

Answer: Photo? Hi Helena, I do not see the photoshopped pictures posted. Seeing these photos would help guide you. I tend to favor a straight profile because it usually results in a more natural and refined look than one that is sloped. You may want to consider a closed or 'endonasal' rhinoplasty (no scars on the outside of your nose). I encourage you to seek out a surgeon who is highly trained specifically in aesthetic plastic and reconstructive surgery. Thank you very much for your question. Mark G. Albert, M.D. NYC Endonasal Rhinoplasty Surgeon
