Am I a candidate for liposuction surgery around the waist?

From your description alone is impossible to say what sort of candidate you would be for liposuction. Provided your expectations are in line with the capabilities of the procedure you probably can have this done under local anesthesia.

Hello and thank you for your question. An in-person consultation is needed to answer your question. Based on your height and weight, your current BMI is 35, which is too high. Ideal candidates for liposuction have a normal or close to
normal BMI,  they have stubborn areas of adiposity that
they can't get rid of despite adequate diet and exercise, and have a good skin
tone with no significant stretch marks. It is important to keep in mind that
liposuction is not a weight loss surgery, and is more of a tool to re-shape the
body. After liposuction, you should continue to have a healthy life style with
balanced diet and exercise to maintain your body weight.  I would

I highly recommend that you book an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.  It's the best way to properly assess and decide what procedure is right for you and will you give you the result that you are looking to achieve.Typically the best candidates for liposuction are those that are at a normal and stable weight, with pockets of excess fat that they are looking to remove. It's also important that liposuction patients have good skin elasticity. Age is not usually a major factor, though skin elasticity does diminish with age, which means that an older patient may not achieve the same results as a younger patient.

It is hard to give an opinion without pictures. Based on the information you gave us, you should get your BMI to 30 or below by diet and exercise. At that time you may be a candidate for liposuction of the waist. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn what options are available to you. Good luck.

 I appreciate your concerns and frustrations, however photographs would certainly help to provide a more detailed answer. However judging by your BMI, your first option should be adopting a reasonable diet and exercise regimen to lower your BMI to around 30. At that time you may consider liposuction, but you may not even need it after the weight loss.  Good luck!
