How long should I wait before microneedling liposuctioned areas?

I’m getting liposuction and would like to help my skin snap back faster. I would like to micro needle / dermaroll the areas that have had fat removed but I don’t want to damage anything while I’m healing. How long should I wait after lipo to start needling.

Thank you for your question, you need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heats the skin with radiofrequency devices such as Renuvion (J-Plasma), InMode BodyTite, and ThermiRF to heat the undersurface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HI-DEF VASER Liposuction and can only be done by a well-trained body contouring specialist. At the same time, fat should be harvested and purified, with PRP and stem cells added, and then injected into muscles, indentations and cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. For a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), we inject the fat into the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with a combination of Cellfina, subcision, and/or fillers such as Bellafill, Renuva synthetic fat, or Sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery, then it will need to be removed: tummy tuck/abdominoplasty for lower abdominal skin; breast lift for excess breast skin; and/or a brachioplasty for loose arm skin. 
Overall, you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer.

It is probably better to wait for skin retraction after liposuction before undergoing additional (possibly unnecessary) treatment like micro-needling. Waiting 6-10 weeks may give you time to decide whether additional procedures is needed. Good luck.

Hello!! thank you for your question. I strongly recommend to wait at least 6-10 weeks in order to decide if you need/want any more procedures done. This being so that it is the aproximate time in which skin retraction and swelling after liposuction starts to come down and you are able to appreciate the outcome of the procedure. If not done at the same time as your liposuction I would recommend waiting at least 6 weeks. If you do it any sooner than 6 months just realize it may set your swelling back somewhat. It takes at 6-12 months for everything to mature fully after any procedure

Thank you for your question. Usually it takes about 4-6 months for the skin to retract. I recommend to wait 6 weeks before you do anything. Usually we don't recommend micro needling, but Venus freeze might help. It all depending on your skin quality

The results from micro needling are not permanent. It takes about six weeks to see anything even resembling liposuction results so I would say wait at least that long before having micro needling.  I see no purpose in having micro needling while you’re still  early in healing from liposuction. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
